Style Petal is growing up in the world and moving home! You can catch the brand new site at www.stylepetal.co.uk
All of my older posts are also on the newer site, however I will still keep this page going for sentimental values ;-)
Thank you for all your continued support and I hope you enjoy the new Style Petal!
For most of us, summertime means upping our beauty regimes to make sure we're feeling super confident to brave the beaches and ditch those layers of contour! Summer after summer I have gravitated to the same faithful products as well as having a major love affair with some amazing, newbies to the scene! Keep scrolling to check out a my fave summer essentials!
Not only a summer essential but an everyday essential (as you can tell from my outfit posts!) A good pair of sunglasses never goes amiss! These gorgeous Calvin Klein frames are from Discounted Sungasses - a site that, hence the name, sells your favourite sunglasses for a fraction of the original price! I was kindly gifted these to show you guys but you can grab them here for yourselves (Or if you're feeling extra extravagant go for these Prada's I have been lusting over!) There is any brand you could ever think of listed on there and more, Chloe, Gucci, Chanel, RayBan, the list goes on! It's a little bit like a TK Maxx solely for sunglasses - aka my idea of heaven! I'm absolutely loving the lighter brown colour of these ones, something which makes a pleasant change from my usual black shades or aviators! Everyone needs a good pair (or 10!) to see them through the warmer months and this is now my new go to place to grab them whilst keeping my purse happy!
Next up is probably one of the most important factors of summertime - your skin! Obviously I have my cleansers, masks, moisturizers and factor 50 (I'm a total English Rose!) but the Bondi Sands gradual tanner and Hawaiian Tropic tanning oil are two products that are glued to my summer tote! I'm a sucker for pretty packaging and a beautiful smelling lotion, 2 boxes these products tick! The gradual tanner has a lovely cocoa butter smell and gives my pasty limbs a lovely, natural glow - it also dries super quickly, something that's important as there's nothing worse than a sticky lotion! My grandad has always been an avid hawaiian Tropics devotee (what a strange person to get inspo from!) and that malibu, coconutty, tropical smell always has me coming back for more! It also gives you a gorgeous summery sheen whilst you're wearing it, somewhat helping you envision yourself as Rosie Huntington Whitely on a beach with her glossy legs!
For most of us when it comes to summer, we like to pair back the slap in favour for a more natural look. I love nothing more than keeping all my makeup minimal apart from a bold lip! I'm a massive fan of the Rimmel Kate Moss ones at the moment, they have amazing staying power, come in so many dreamy colours and are also available in matte!
To bring your lips into even more focus I love having a quick facial tone and lip plump with my liptiful tool! Taking the kylie jenner lip challenge to a new level is this handmade tool which uses the tiniest amount of suction to tone the face and plump the lips! Once you get the hang of this thing it feels like doing a mini workout on your face! My Liptiful is always tucked away in my handbag ready for a quick lip aerobics session! It doesn't plump to extreme levels but rather compliments your natural lip shape all whilst helping use those muscles around your face! My sister loved mine so much she even brought one herself!
Lastly are my holy grail hair products! I have extremely long 'virgin' (aww!) hair, so although I don't use much heat on it or damage it from bleach, etc, it still needs some tlc to keep it in tip top condition! Dry shampoo is a no brainer all year round, especially if I'm busy! I have always used Batiste as they have loads of different varieties as well as handbag friendly sizes for a midday hair fluff! We all know bad hair days are the worst and Batiste has never failed to make them better!
If your hair is prone to knotting like mine (waking up with dreadlocks is no fun!) you NEED a tangle teezer! As well as coming in tones of adorable colours this has never failed to de knot my hair quickly and without hurting! This is another handbag essential I always have with me and the hot pink colour means it's super easy to spot amongst all my other things hidden in the depths of my bag! As attractive and salty, sea drenched hair is there is nothing worse than the after math and de tangling is almost impossible - unless you have one of these that is!
Last but not least is a beauty secret I'm sure everyone knows about by now! Coconut oil is a wonder in the kitchen, on your skin and smothered on your hair! When the sun dries out my tresses I pile this stuff on the mid lengths to ends of my hair and leave overnight! I don't bother wasting my money on hair masks and serums anymore, why should I when this all natural product does it all for me? Here I have Lucy Bee coconut oil, if you don't have any of this stuff, stop what you are doing and go get some!
These are just some of the things I need to survive the heat - what are your 'go to' products?
Striped shirt - New Look Silk shorts - H&M Slip ons - Birkenstock Sunglasses- Primark Handbag - Bayliss & Harding
As I always say I'm not one to usually wear lots of print or colour (Man that makes me sound like a boring dresser!) But I couldn't resist this cute striped shirt that I picked up in the sales! I literally own so many shirts - I love them how you can chuck them over anything and everything! I'm also a massive fan of unbuttoning them at the bottom, I think it adds an interesting structure and not to mention a nice breeze in the London heat! When it comes to summer city dressing, loose, comfortable and breathable pieces are essential! These silk shorts, a pair of birks and an over sized shirt is my summer uniform and ultimate lazy dressing for days that require everything and nothing!
Latest in my quest for clear skin and being a little skincare guinea pig for you guys is a product range helping to promote clear skin all whilst working with the skins natural barrier function and 'acid mantle'. In short - this product is PH neutral (the same as healthy skin, so no acidic and irritating formulas here!) and works with your skin to be a kind way of cleansing your pores!
For the last 6 weeks or so I have been trialing SebaMed's 'clear face' range, products formulated with oily and spot prone skin in mind. I was kindly sent the Deep cleansing facial toner, facial bar and care gel to give a try! Just to give you guys a little back story on SebaMed; the company was established by German Dermatologist Dr. Heinz Maurer in 1956 and has been going ever since - the cult classic cleansing bar is now in its 47th year!
The thing I was loving most about the clear skin range was the education it gave you from the leaflets! It actually made you understand the delicate science behind our skin, with diagrams and drawings which help you with determining what product you need to be using and when. It also describes how your skins cycle renews itself every 6 weeks, which is why if you have really troublesome skin like mine, it's important to stick with a product to see results. For me, coming off of skin medication made my skin almost bi polar! Sometimes it's dry, others oily and sometimes clear! This meant that initially, my skin got worse before it got better whilst using the range - something those of you who suffer with acne will be familiar with. After this initial phase my skin began to settle down and I enjoyed the effects of the products! I loved using the cleansing bar with my Magnitone, and the toner really felt like it was refreshing and cleaning my pores! The care gel also was really soothing and left my skin feeling fresh and not sticky, something a lot of gel moisturizers tend to do!
If you're reading this thinking, "great, but I don't have problematic skin" then have a little peek at their other ranges: classic cleansing, anti dry, hair care, feminine care, deodorant and baby - there is literally something for everyone!
From toners to micellar water, scrubs to moisturisers - what's your holy grail of skin care?
Jacket - New Look White tee - Primark Denim jeans - H&M Lace ups - Primark Sunglasses - Primark Bag - Zara
Here's the thing, I love basic. I live for basic! When it comes to my everyday attire, I dress in monochrome, denim, with a flash of colour chucked in for good measure. Naturally I love colour when it comes to tropical holidays or workout gear. (In the gym I look like 'workout barbie!') This is literally an example of my ideal outfit - comfortable, chic and build-able. Come night time I would add a flash of red lippy, give my hair a brush and stick on some heels!
I purchased this bag in Covent garden after majorly lusting over it from seeing it all over instagram! I was worried they no longer stocked it, so when I was directed to the only one left my face was a look of pure, shopoholic glee! (How can I get so happy over a bag?!)
Besides this bag, Primark has totally stolen my heart recently! My tee (which I also grabbed in grey marl!), sunnies and lace ups are all from the store and I wear all three pieces to death! Primark has seriously upped it's styled credentials recently, meaning that at the moment, I migrate there whenever I need a fashion fix without the collateral purse damage! Don't even get me started on their adorable interior range and quirky pineapple bedsheets! If you're not a usual Primark goer I urge you to go in there and have a rummage, there's constant gems to be found which won't have your bank balance in tears!

Blouse - H&M Denim shorts - Zara Boots - Office UK Sunglasses - Primark
Those of you on my snapchat, instagram and twitter would have seen my overload of London images from the other week, where I had a day of meetings and shopping planned! It was an absolutely scorching day so I had another, comfier, outfit on me which came sooo handy whilst on my feet all day! I will do this look in another post for you guys - the location we shot it in was beautiful!
Come rain or shine, snow or sunshine, I always wear boots and these babies are definitely my new obsession! I think they really pull an outfit together, however I did swap to my trusty birkenstocks midday as it was that little bit too hot for boots, even coming from me!
I have loads of exciting collaborations to share soon with you guys, including accessories and sunglasses, swimwear and 2 fab skincare brands. Are there any posts you guys are keen to see? I'm open to anything from my fitness/diet regime, lifestyle, what's in my bag or makeup - ask away! It is also Style Petal's first birthday next month - keep your eyes peeled for exciting things!
Faux leather jacket - New Look Shirt - H&M Jeans - Topshop 'Joni' Shoes - Birkenstock Sunglasses - Primark
It's weird to think a year or so ago I despised Birkenstock style shoes - what is it that makes us crush over a trend/piece we once loathed? Personally, I think seeing so many models, bloggers, celebrities and influential fashion babes rocking these just made me lust over them to the point where I began to love them! I already purchased a little pair of bronze Birkenstock's last summer, so when I spotted these for a fraction of the normal price I had to grab them!
Yesterday, as some of you guys who follow my snapchat would have seen, I went to London for some blogger meetings. The heat was scorching and it's safe to say these babies were glued to my feet! I shot a couple of looks for you as well as documenting my day through pictures which I'm going to make a couple of posts for you guys to look over and see what my blogging life involves! (Macarons and Coffee over a meeting - yes please!)
How do you guys style your favourite sandals - is there one trend that you promise yourselves you'll never cave into?
High neck knit - H&M Jeans - Topshop 'Jamie' Lace up shoes - Primark Sunglasses - Primark Bag - Matalan
If there's one thing I always buy far too much of (besides shoes and lipstick!) it's got to be knits! Chunky knits, cable knits, cardigans, jumpers, high necks, you name it! I think it is definitely an essential for all seasons, especially in a country with a climate such as Englands! Even at the height of summer I have one stashed in my bag for when those warm evenings turn a bit chilly! I was obsessing over this chunky knit jumper all winter and thought why the hell have I packed this away already?! I love being able to venture out in less layers in the warmer months, but lets be honest we all have a mac and umbrella on standby!
